Biology Practical Learning Experience
As a part of experiential learning and to enhance the understanding of the circulatory system in Biology, Class 10 students of The Hyderabad Public School Kadapa visited the Blood Bank at RIMS (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences), Kadapa, on 23rd June 2025.
The visit was both informative and enlightening. Medical staff had given a brief orientation on the functioning of a blood bank. Students learned about the process of blood donation, testing, separation of blood components (plasma, platelets, RBCs), storage conditions, and how blood is matched and prepared for transfusion.
The students also gained insights into the importance of voluntary blood donation and how it can save countless lives. The staff emphasized the need for safe and hygienic practices, including the use of sterilized equipment and proper donor screening procedures.
Safety measures were followed throughout the visit, and all students wore masks as a precautionary measure.
This real-world exposure helped students connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications, deepening their understanding of human biology and encouraging them to become socially responsible citizens.
The visit was not just educational, but also inspiring, as it instilled a sense of awareness and compassion among the young learners.
